Vidyut Jammwal is all set to star in Khuda Haafiz: Chapter II – Agni Pariksha, which hits theatres later this week. While the movie has some hype to it among action movie fans, it has run into some tricky waters following one of its songs. The movie’s makers have now published an official statement, apologising for hurting religious sentiments.
"We the makers of Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2 Agni Pariksha take cognizance of the concerns expressed by a few people of the Shia community and sincerely apologise for the fact that elements of the song 'Haq Hussain' have unintentionally hurt their sentiments,” reads the first part of the statement, which has also been shared on social media.
They also clarified that no member from the Shia community has been captured in any wrong light in the movie and it does not show anyone from the community attacking anyone.
The statement also said that the song in question was created with the “most pious intent” and was never meant to hurt religious sentiments, but rather celebrate the glory of Imam Hussain.
The controversy started when people from the community raised questions about the use of the words “Hussain” and “Zanjeer”.
Khuda Haafiz: Chapter II – Agni Pariksha, which is helmed by Faruk Kabir, is a sequel to the 2020 action flick, Khuda Haafiz. Apart from Jammwal in the lead, the movie also features Shivaleeka Oberoi, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Sheeba Chaddha.
Backed by Panorama Studios and Action Hero Films, the movie has music by Mithoon and Vishal Mishra. Khuda Haafiz: Chapter II – Agni Pariksha is set to hit theatres on July 8. The first installment is now available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
