In the new Netflix film Khufiya, veteran Indian actress Tabu slips into the role of Krishna Mehra, an Indian spy who is tasked to track down a mole who is selling state secrets to international adversaries. The Vishal Bhardwaj directorial also stars Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi in prominent roles. The captivating spy thriller is based on the novel Escape to Nowhere by Amar Bhushan. The Family Man - Prime Video

Created by Raj and DK, the critically-acclaimed Prime Video original series The Family Man, tells the story of a supposedly unassuming middle-class family man who also happens to be a spy. The series follows his struggles as attempts to navigate the complexities involved in his profession while keeping up with the responsibilities that come with being a father and a husband. Straddling multiple roles, he’s also required to ensure that he protects his family from dangerous adversaries. The compelling series that has pulled through two seasons features Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role with Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar, Neeraj Madhav, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in prominent roles.

Mukhbir – The Story of a Spy (Zee5)

The TV series Mukhbir - The Story of a Spy is set in the aftermath of the Sino-India war. An Indian intelligence officer is sent to Pakistan to gather intel on any potential threats against India. Directed by Shivam Nair and Jayprad Desai, the series is based on the book Mission to Pakistan: An Intelligence Agent in Pakistan by Maloy Krishna Dhar, who was the Joint Director of the Intelligence Bureau. The series stars Zain Khan Durrani, Prakash Raj, Adil Hussain, Barkha Bisht, Harsh Chhaya, Bijou Thaangjam, and Zoya Afroz in prominent roles.

Raazi - Prime Video

The  2018 spy thriller Raazi is helmed by Meghna Gulzar, and stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role. She essays the role of an Indian woman married to a Pakistani military officer. Unbeknownst to her husband and in-laws, she happens to be a spy working for the Indian government. Bhatt perfectly captures her inner turmoil of serving her country and betraying her husband at the same time. Vicky Kaushal, Shishir Sharma, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Rajit Kapur play other prominent roles in the film. Raazi is an adaptation of the novel Calling Sehmat by Harinder Sikka and is based on true events.

Baby - Disney+ Hotstar

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar plays the lead in the action thriller Baby as Ajay Singh Rajput, a spy who is tasked with foiling a series of deadly terror attacks. The film follows the daring escapades of Ajay and his team, in this race against time thriller that constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat. Anupam Kher, Rana Daggubati, Danny Denzongpa, Taapsee Pannu, and Kay Kay Menon among others essay other prominent roles in this Neeraj Pandey directorial.

Naam Shabana - Netflix

Taapsee Pannu essays the lead role of Shabana Khan in the 2017 action thriller Naam Shabana. Directed by Shivam Nair, the film is a spinoff to Baby, the 2015 film starring Akshay Kumar in the lead. The plot revolves around Shabana Khan on her quest towards becoming a spy for the Indian government. Manoj Bajpayee, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Anupam Kher also star in the film which offers plenty of action and drama.

Phantom - OTTplay Premium

Directed by Kabir Khan, the 2015 action thriller Phantom stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. The film is adapted from Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mumbai Avengers, which is set in the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The plot revolves around a disgraced soldier who is tasked with dangerous covert missions with the promise of repairing his fractured reputation.
