Kiara Advani has spoken about the backlash her movie Kabir Singh faced. The film was panned by a section of the public and tagged misogynistic. The debate creeped up again after Karan Johar discussed the matter with the original actor, Vijay Deverakonda. Vijay played Arjun Reddy which was later adapted into Kabir Singh.

It was the slap scene which brought on the fury. Kiara has a different view though. “After the slap in the interval scene, she leaves the man. You don’t see that,” the actress told Bollywood Hungama.

Kiara also discussed how people did not want Preeti to take Kabir back but she thought it was the right thing to do and justified. “She tells him that he fucked up. At the end of the day, though, this is the love of her life who’s in front of her,” the actress said.

“It’s really complex to make a right and wrong of a relationship like that. It is between two people,” Kiara reminded the audiences. She then said that viewers picked on the love story and confirmed that Kabir and Preeti weren’t perfect or even idealistic.

Kiara then pointed out how Kabir saw a downfall in the second half. While everything was justified for her, Kiara was also of the opinion that people just spoke about the scene but not the film in totality.

“It’s a film. People made them to be almost life-like,” the Shershaah actress said, adding that the makers never wanted to say what is okay and what isn’t. She then said that she moved on from the situation after the whole debate.

Kiara Advani was last seen in Jug Jugg Jeeyo. The film starred her, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in the lead roles. It is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
