Kiccha Sudeep in talks with potential collaborators for directorial; what about King Kichcha then?

When will Kiccha Sudeep return to the director’s chair? That’s a question that the Kannada superstar gets pretty much every time he faces the media; he’d last made a film in 2014 and it seemed he was on track to change that in 2023. He had announced a film called King Kichcha, with the makers of Uttarakaanda and Ekka, but two years hence, it has not taken off yet.

Sudeep to return to direction in 2026?

It was no different on September 1, a day ahead of his birthday, but this time when he fielded the question, Sudeep had a clearer picture. The actor-filmmaker has written a script that he’s quite excited about. “I have written a story that I am quite happy about; it’s very different. Discussions are on with technicians and studios. I want to do a very warm film; my kind of a film. Planning is on and I am gearing up for that,” he said.

What about King Kichcha then? “It will happen when it has to. Just because we’ve announced a collaboration, we can’t do something for the heck of it and ruin lives. Cinema is a serious issue; the intention to make a film has been locked, as soon as the script is also locked, we will work on it,” he explained.

Sudeep will wrap up his current commitment Mark by October end for its Christmas 2025 release and will rejoin Billa Ranga Baashaa (BRB) thereafter, but in keeping with his 1 film per year plan, he will announce or even kick off another project along with BRB. Could his proposed directorial be that project?

Mark, meanwhile, is being directed by Max Maker Vijay Kartikeyaa and has Sudeep playing Ajay Markanday, yet another cop character. The film was initially rumoured to be Max 2, a prequel to explain how Arjun Mahakshay came to be known as Max, but Sudeep has clarified that there is no connection between the two films. However, he noted that there maybe similarities in the look and feel of the film because the same technical team is on board.
