Kiccha Sudeep to collaborate with THIS director on rom-com?
During the promotions of his last release Mark, Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep had said that he will soon do a rom-com, apart from completing Billa Ranga Baashaa.

It’s been a while since Kiccha Sudeep had a full-fledged romantic interest in a film; 2021’s Kotigobba 3 is when Madonna Sebastian was paired with him. 2022’s Vikrant Rona featured Milana Nagaraj opposite him, albeit in a limited role, while 2024’s Max and 2025’s Mark had no space for romance. It’s not that Sudeep is averse to the idea of romancing onscreen now; he just does not believe it is integral to all stories. He’s definitely not keen to force-fit it into narratives that do not require such diversions. But Sudeep also recognises that his fans like seeing him in light-hearted romantic comedies, a genre he’s not attempted in recent times.
Gautham Vasudev Menon to work with a Kannada star...
During the promotions of his latest, Mark, which came out on December 25, 2025, Sudeep had said that he’s okayed a rom-com as his next, a beautiful script in which the love angle is ‘organic’. At the time, it was speculated that this would be a collaboration with Kannada filmmaker Santhosh Ananddram, but then, in another interview Sudeep said that the script came from a writer associated with Telugu director Sukumar’s team. Amid all of this came another rumour – is Tamil filmmaker-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon working with Sudeep?
In a recent interview, Gautham had said that he is currently wrapping up the writing of a love story. He added that he’s looking at working in different languages and that there’s the possibility of collaborating with a superstar in Kannada. Fans, of course, wasted no time in connecting the dots and wondering if Sudeep’s upcoming rom-com, which he hopes to have in theatres by mid-2026, is with Gautham. The filmmaker has, after all, learnt the art of quick filmmaking turnaround on the set of his debut Malayalam directorial, the Mammootty-led Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse .
Meanwhile, Mark, which had Sudeep reuniting with director Vijay Kartikeyaa, recorded much lower box office figures in its first week collections than Max. While Max, which was also a Christmas release, notched up Rs 37.95 cr net, Mark managed only Rs 23. 15 cr net in the same timeframe. This time around, Sudeep’s film has barely made any inroads in Tamil and Telugu, unlike Max, which found some takers. The film, though, has its OTT partner in place, and will make its way to JioHotstar after the theatrical run.
