Kiccha Sudeep wishes team Rakkasapuradhol; fans want update of his next instead

Of late, every time Kiccha Sudeep posts something on social media, the overwhelming response to it, no matter the context, is a request for an update on his next, presumed to be the in-production Billa Ranga Baashaa (BRB). A few days ago, when Sudeep put up a long post about winning Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) Season 12 and then, later, when he wrote about the good tidings he’s been hearing about the Raj B Shetty-led Rakkasapuradhol, it was the same story.

“Any updates regarding BRB? Should we be happy with KCC, CCL, BBK, mediocre projects, your presence at unnecessary events and press meets?” wrote an agitated fan. Another said that the actor was not only wasting his potential, but that of director Anup Bhandari too. Some even said that Sudeep ought to do BRB first, before starting on the rom-com he had announced during the promotions of Mark.

In early 2025, Sudeep took two films on floor, one of which he was determined to release that year. He began with the ambitious Billa Ranga Baashaa, but then moved on to Mark, once the former was in schedule break. The initial plan was for the actor to juggle both simultaneously, but eventually, he focused solely on Mark, while also resuming hosting duties of Bigg Boss Kannada. Between July and early November, he wrapped up Mark, and then spent time on its post-production and promotions.

In the time since he finished Mark, Sudeep has not returned to the set of Billa Ranga Baashaa, although the claim was that he’d begun Vijay Kartikeyaa’s Mark in the time that sets were being erected for the Anup Bhandari directorial. In January, the focus was on the 12th Season of the Celebrity Cricket League, which his team won 10 days ago, but still there’s been no word on reviving Billa Ranga Baashaa.

Sudeep’s fans, who had to wait for nearly two and a half years between the releases of Vikrant Rona and Max, have been urging the actor to prioritize films over Bigg Boss Kannada and Celebrity Cricket League. There was a ray of hope when he had announced his departure as host of Bigg Boss Kannada after Season 11, and when he began two films simultaneously.

The buzz in filmi circles is that Anup is on the lookout for more investors for Billa Ranga Baashaa, which is being attributed as reason for the delay in production. Sudeep has been quoted as saying that it will be the biggest film in his career, but given that Vikrant Rona did not recover its investment, Max did well but moderately so and now Mark also disappointed at the box office, is Billa Ranga Baashaa a financially viable project?
