In the last few days, Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep has repeatedly been dropping hints that the trailer launch of his next, Mark, is imminent. The film, which reunites Sudeep with Max maker Vijay Kartikeyaa is set for theatrical release on December 25, 2025, what with the actor having tasted success during the Christmas holiday season only a year ago and now looking for an encore. However, according to the latest buzz, besides the promise of one film a year, Sudeep and co may just be planning something special for fans.

Mark to get pan-India release; Sudeep dubs in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu

In a recent interview with Guarantee News, filmmaker Chakravarthy Chandrachud, a close associate of Sudeep revealed that plans are afoot to secure permission to have midnight or early morning shows, before 6 am, across Karnataka. This time, the film will get a pan-India release, with Sudeep having dubbed for himself in the Kannada, Tamil and Telugu versions.

Unlike Max, which was a story that unfolded over one night and was shot on set in Mahabalipuram, Mark took the team to over 130 different locations. Sudeep’s character Ajay Markanday is a fearless and brutal cop, which, according to industry buzz, is an extension of his character Arjun Mahakshay from Max .

The script of Mark is said to be what Vijay was planning as a Max sequel, but Sudeep and producer Thanu are rumoured to have had a falling out, over the scrapping of the film’s pan-India plans and eventual delayed release, among others. Since chances of them reuniting and reviving the Max brand were slim, Ajay Markanday was born instead.

The film, meanwhile, hits theatres in a clash with Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45, which stars Shivarajkumar, Upendra and Raj B Shetty in the lead. Both film teams maintain that there’s no question of a clash and that there’s space for both at the box office. Eventually, of course, it is about which content appeals to audiences.
