Kiccha Sudeep’s next with Max maker Vijay Kartikeyaa, but not Max 2
The buzz in industry circles is that Sudeep’s much-delayed project with Satya Jyoti Films will be with Vijay Kartikeyaa

Tamil filmmaker Vijay Kartikeyaa won the hearts of Kiccha Sudeep fans when he presented a very enjoyable feast for them in the form of Max, which released in theatres for Christmas 2024. Following the box office success of the film, there were reports of Sudeep and Vijay collaborating again, although the filmmaker said it would be up to producer Kalaipulli S Thanu and the actor to figure out if they wanted to do a Max sequel. Vijay had also said that he had a script ready for a film outside of the Max universe as well.

According to reports, the Sudeep film that is being announced on July 5, 2025 is with Vijay, albeit for Satya Jyoti Films. The banner had earlier announced that it would be backing director Cheran’s film with Sudeep, with KGF and HIT3 fame Srinidhi Shetty opposite the Kannada superstar. Instead, they will now back Vijay’s film with Sudeep, which is not in the Max universe.
In fact, it remains to be seen if Sudeep will return to play Arjun Mahakshay, given that there were rumours of discord between Thanu and the actor over the delay of the Max release. Sudeep had wanted the film in theatres closer to his birthday in September, but it eventually came only for Christmas, clashing with Upendra’s UI. It remains to be seen if Srinidhi will still be on board, now that there’s a change of filmmaker and story.
Sudeep, meanwhile, is currently on a schedule break from his film Billa Ranga Baashaa, directed by Anup Bhandari, who made Vikrant Rona with the actor. The film, backed by Primeshow Entertainment, the makers of Hanu-Man, is an ambitious big-budget film set 200 years in the future, the world building of which is the biggest challenge, according to Anup.
The superstar, who had announced his intention to return to direction with a film called King Kichcha, to be produced by KRG Studios, is yet to take the project forward. He is currently committed to Billa Ranga Baashaa, his untitled project with Vijay and the new season of Bigg Boss Kannada, which is expected to begin in October or November, after Sudeep wraps up a film.
