Kiccha Sudeep’s Vikrant Rona run-time revealed; just right for a thriller, say some fans, others want more
Vikrant Rona to release in July?

It’s been well over 20 days since the last update about Vikrant Rona came, when they released the lyrical video of Gadang Rakkamma. And with less than a month and a half to go for the film’s theatrical release, fans are grasping for any morsel of information about the Kiccha Sudeep starrer.

The film is slated to release in theatres on July 28, so, information about the film appears on online ticket booking sites. And what has caught the eye of fans is the runtime of the film. According to, Vikrant Rona is all of two hours and 15 minutes (135 minutes), while imdb pegs this at 137 minutes.

As is the case with any information about the film, this too was widely discussed. If 135 minutes is indeed true, Vikrant Rona is, by far, the shortest in terms of duration by Anup Bhandari. His Rangitaranga was two hours 29 minutes, while Rajaratha was two hours 23 minutes. Fans remained divided about this. While a majority agreed that 135 minutes would be just right for a crisply edited thriller, the fact that the film has five songs would mean that that the actual story is told in less than two hours. The relatively short run-time, reckoned others, is because the team is looking at making a franchise out of Vikrant Rona and that an announcement for the next part would be made at the end of the film. Of course, there were fans who thought that 135 minutes was not enough and that a final word on the runtime would be available after the film is submitted for censor certification.

For the team of Vikrant Rona, though, the priority would be to have producer Manjunath Gowda back on his feet and leading the publicity and release plans of the film. Jack, as the filmmaker is popularly called, has been recuperating in hospital, after he sought medical attention for mild chest pain. Sudeep had tweeted last evening that all was well with Jack and that he would be discharged from hospital soon.

While there are rumours that the team may look at pushing the release ahead in keeping with Jack’s health condition, there’s no official word yet, so, as of now, July 28 is still the scheduled release date.
