The YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute had been making claims that Kim Soo-hyun was dating Kim Sae-ron since she was a minor. The channel demanded an apology from Soo-hyun. This, one might remember, goes back to the time of Queen of Tears, when Sae-ron had shared a photo of Soo-hyun kissing her cheek. She had faced backlash at the time owing to her DUI scandal. Soo-hyun's agency had responded to the photo as being one from when both the actors were working for the same company, Goldmedalist. With the YouTube channel making new claims, the agency has plans to sue them.

The very channel claims that they have proof that would hinder Soo-hyun's entry into the US. They not only reshared the photo but also a screenshot in which she asked Soo-hyun for desperate help before being found dead in her apartment.

According to the message exchange between Sae-ron and Soo-hyun, she approached him for help when Soo-hyun's agency sent her a legal notice to clear her debt in the 2022 DUI case. According to Sae-ron's aunt, the actress was preparing for her comeback in 2025 but she was suddenly asked to clear her debt after being told that she doesn't need to repay the amount. According to the message, Sae-ron was required to pay the entire amount or face legal consequences.
