King: Anil Kapoor to play Shah Rukh Khan's mentor in Siddharth Anand’s film? Here's what we know

Shah Rukh Khan's King is one of the most-awaited films, and it has been garnering a lot of attention from fans since the beginning. The film stars Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma in key roles, while SRK and Deepika will be romantically paired together, as per reports. Now, a new report mentions that Anil Kapoor has also joined the cast. 

Anil Kapoor joins King

Pinkvilla reported that Anil Kapoor joined the cast of Siddharth Anand's upcoming film, King. He will play the role of Shah Rukh Khan's mentor. 

“Shah Rukh Khan plays an assassin in King, Anil Kapoor will be seen as his handler. There were multiple actors considered for the part, but the team amicably feels that Anil Kapoor suits the role to the T. Anil is also excited to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan on this mega-budget actioner,” revealed a source.

The portal further added that the makers are looking to release between October and December 2026 and the film will be shot in 100 days in India and abroad. It also reported that the first schedule will begin around May 20 in Mumbai, followed by an international leg in Europe. 

"The film has been written keeping the theatrical sensibilities of the modern audience in mind, and presents Shah Rukh Khan like never before – raw, and rooted. The action sequences too are designed balancing style with raw-ness,” the source added.

Meanwhile, according to reports, King's shooting was supposed to kick off on May 16, but Siddharth Anand's film has been in pre-production for months. As per a Mid-Day report, the India-Pakistan situation is still sensitive, as a result, everyone is debating whether to push their projects to the bottom right now.

Meanwhile, as per reports, King's story involves a father-daughter duo seeking revenge after an injustice was done to Suhana, with Shah Rukh's character guiding her and providing her with survival skills.
