Even though the makers of Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming Malayalam movie King of Kotha have only released a single poster from the film, the buzz is already high. Much of this has to do with the cast of the film, which features Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prasanna, Chemban Vinod Jose and Gokul Suresh.

The team has added one more member to the talented artistes who are part of the film, which marks the debut directorial of veteran filmmaker Joshiy’s son Abhilash. Tamil actor Saran Shakti, who had starred in Dhanush’s Vada Chennai, Nayanthara’s Netrikann and Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2, has now joined the team.

Saran took to his Twitter page to announce the news during the Pongal weekend. “So happy to share my next big step with you all on this special day! #kingofkotha and happy Pongal everyone! Looking forward to this exciting journey! Love you all,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the team of the film are currently busy with its shoot. The current schedule entails a lot of night schedules. In an earlier interview with Masala magazine, Dulquer, who had been shooting for the film in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, said that the movie is an “action gangster genre, noir film” that is set in a town called Kotha. The actor also remarked that he decided to be part of the movie as it had “great writing” and is also “a very commercial gangster drama”.

Abhilash N Chandran, who had written Porinju Mariyam Jose, is the scriptwriter of the film, which is produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films and mounted on a bigger canvas than Srinath Rajendran’s Kurup, which is the superstar’s highest grossing Malayalam film ever.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that after the shoot of King of Kotha, Dulquer will be joining a Tamil movie helmed by debutant Karthikeyan Velappan, who had assisted Jawan and Bigil filmmaker Atlee. He has also reportedly signed a Bollywood film with Dharma Productions.
