The upcoming big-budget film, King of Kotha starring Dulquer Salmaan, is receiving a lot of attention for its grandiosity. Very recently, veteran actor TG Ravi revealed his experiences during the shoot of the film and spoke about how the sets of the movie were built inside a football ground, accommodating around 1500 junior artists. He also said that approx. Rs. 5 crores were spent to erect the set.
Speaking to The Cue Studio, TG Ravi said which roughly translates to, "I recently went to work in the film directed by veteran director Joshiy's son, Abhilash Joshiy. I was amazed to see the sets of the movie. One set was inside a football ground in which the counters were set up for giving food to around 1500 junior artists. Only a production company like Wayfarer Films can handle this type of venture. I think the set itself will cost around Rs. 5 crores."
King of Kotha, helmed by Abhilash Joshiy, is a pan-Indian film that tells the story of a gangster Raju in a fictional place called Kotha. Aishwarya Lekshmi known for her films like Archana 31 Not Out, Varathan, and Mayaanadhi will essay the female lead. King of Kotha co-produced by Dulquer's Wayfarer Films is the biggest film of the actor in his career in terms of hype and scale. In an interview with India Today, Dulquer said that he hasn't attempted a mass film like King of Kotha before.
Recently a pre-release event of the film was held at Hyderabad which was graced by actors like Nani and Rana Daggubati. King of Kotha is, of course, mounted on a large scale with an estimated budget of Rs 50 crore, and is scheduled to hit theatres on August 24.
Meanwhile, Dulquer's debut web series Guns and Gulaabs which features a stellar ensemble cast including Rajkummar Rao, Adarsh Gourav, and Gulshan Devaiah will start streaming on Netflix from August 18.
