If Shah Rukh Khan's 2023 box office success is any indication, his 2026 return to the big screen will be with King. Despite Sujoy Ghosh's initial appointment as director, the superstar and company were able to have him replaced by Siddharth Anand.
Additionally, Bollywood Hungama's reliable sources reveal that Anand is currently refining the script for King, taking his personal style preferences into account. The goal of the filmmaker and Shah Rukh's Pathaan-style film, King, was to surpass the quality of the YRF Spy Universe film. So, Anand is making sure everything is perfect on paper before shooting the film.

King will now hit the floors in June rather than March, the source added, because of the extensive pre-production work. In June of 2025, filming will begin in Europe and India for the feature film. The insider went on to say that by the end of 2026, the film would be in theatres, thanks to Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix's dedication to providing audiences an epic cinematic experience.
During his previous appearance at the Locarno Film Festival, Shah Rukh discussed King and said that the film is an action drama, and the superstar was looking forward to it. That's the kind of film he has been dreaming about making for the past seven or eight years. They wanted it to be really sensitive, so they thought Ghosh would be the best option. All of them are going to create a fantastic, massive, action-packed, emotionally charged film.
SRK later elaborated at an Abu Dhabi event that he will be shooting it for a couple of months. Anand is rather hard on him, like Pathaan; he made it. The filmmaker specifically requested that SRK keep their secret. He won't reveal the details, but he assures fans that they will find it entertaining and enjoyable.
King also has prominent appearances from Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan.
