Kingdom OTT release date: When and where to stream Vijay Deverakonda’s latest action drama

Kingdom, the recently released Telugu action drama headlined by actor Vijay Deverakonda, has set its streaming date. The film’s post-theatrical streaming rights have been bagged by Netflix which has set the OTT release date this weekend, on August 27.

Actor Vijay Deverakonda’s latest Telugu film is Kingdom, an action drama which opened to mixed reviews. After its theatrical run, the film will now begin its streaming rights. It found its digital home at Netflix with the streaming giant announcing the premiere date as August 27. Kingdom will be made in multiple audio languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

Kingdom is written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri who had previously made the critically acclaimed sports drama Jersey. Satyadev and Bhagyashri Borse play prominent parts in the action drama which also stars Venkitesh VP, Rohini, Manish Chaudhari, Bhoomi Shetty and others.

What is Kingdom all about and why it courted controversy

The Vijay Deverakonda-starrer revolves around Suri, a police constable who is assigned to complete an undercover mission in Sri Lanka and recover a criminal. But only later does Suri realise the criminal is none other than his long-lost brother who has bigger issues to deal with in the island country.

Upon its release, Kingdom has met with sharp criticism from a section of Tamils for showing the Sri Lankan Tamil ethnicity in a bad light. Subsequently, the makers had apologised and said that it was not their intentions to hurt the sentiments of the ethic group. They further added that all the characters in Kingdom is completely fictional.

The film ended on a note hinting sequel. However, the makers are yet to announce any progress on that front. Kingdom has music by Anirudh Ravichander and shot by Girish Gangadharan and Jomon T John. Naveen Nooli has edited the film.
