Kingdom: OTT rights of Vijay Devarakonda's next fetch a record price

Kingdom is one of the most awaited films in Telugu cinema and is all set to hit the screens on July 31, 2025. Vijay Deverakonda plays the main lead in this film directed by Gautham Tinnanuri of Jersey fame. We at OTTplay have been bringing you regular updates regarding the film, and we were the first to reveal that Netflix has bagged the digital rights to the film for a fancy price.

Now, a source close to the team has revealed to us that Netflix has paid a whopping ₹53 crore to acquire the digital rights of the film. This is the highest ever amount paid for a Vijay Deverakonda film to date.

Kingdom is also Vijay's biggest-budgeted film so far, as the makers have spent close to ₹130 crore on the action drama. Despite Vijay delivering back-to-back flops recently, Netflix has spent a huge amount to acquire the rights, which shows their confidence in director Gautham Tinnanuri and the makers.

Naga Vamsi from Sithara Entertainments is producing the film. Bhagyashree Bose plays the female lead, marking her first pairing with Vijay Deverakonda.

The film will be released in two parts, with the first part scheduled to hit the screens on July 31, 2025. As already reported, depending on the response to the first part, the second part will be shot. This has been confirmed by Naga Vamsi in one of his interviews.

Anirudh has composed the music, and three songs from the film that have already been released have ended up as big hits.

Looking at past trends, Sithara Entertainments has delivered several hits, and most of their recent films have been sold to Netflix. The source adds that in the coming days, two or three more films are expected to follow the same route, with Netflix as the digital partner.

Kingdom also features noted actor Satya Dev in the role of a gangster. There are also reports that the film has a reincarnation theme, but that aspect has been kept under wraps. Only time will tell if it's true.

For now, the makers have sold the digital rights for a record price, and there is news that Kingdom will premiere on Netflix within a month of its theatrical release. Stay tuned for more updates.
