Kannada actor Kiran Raj, famed for his role on Kannadathi, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, among others, had made the switch to the big screen a few years ago with March 22. While he has been doing the occasional cinema, Kiran has not given up on TV.
One of his upcoming films was launched as Bahaddur Gandu, which is the title of a 1976 Dr Rajkumar film. At the time, the makers had said that they had used the title as a tribute to the late matinee idol. But in the aftermath of Dr Rajkumar’s son Puneeth’s passing in late October last year, there was an outcry among fans demanding that the title of the film be changed.
The makers have now obliged and officially announced that the film will be called Bharjari Gandu instead. The film, we are told, showcases a rural culture that is fast vanishing due to urbanization. Kiran, meanwhile, has been working hard on his look for the film, even sporting six-pack abs. He has also been training in the local stick fight martial arts format, Donne Varase. The actor, we are told, will have two distinct looks in the film and the team is set to release a trailer in early March, on the occasion of Shivaratri.
Shooting for the Prasiddh directorial Bharjari Gandu, which also stars Ramesh Bhatt, Rakesh Raj, Surekha, Veena Sundar, Jayashree, Nagesh Rohit, Saurabh Kulkarni, Madenur Manu and Govinda Gowda, is almost over.
