Kirti Kulhari and Angad Bedi came up with a new short film titled The List. As the story of the film shows the reality of a young couple who are living a robotic life that is a reflection of the typical metropolitan life we are living presently, both the actors shared the challenges that they faced as performers.

Kirti said, "This was a different experience. There were moments where Gaurav Dave (the director) would tell us to look more 'dead,' to reduce the emotion from our body language, from our faces, etc. Thoda aur emotion kam karo, abhi bhi kuch lag raha hai, ussko bhi hata do. So we were going in the opposite direction. This challenge was really something that I enjoyed."

According to her, it was exactly the opposite of what an actor usually gets instructions on when they are told to bring certain expressions to their face and body language to play a character. Since her character was shown as someone living quite a robotic life, her expression and body language were also quite emotionless.

"Baaki toh kaafi majja aaya yaar, kuch dialogues nahi hai, bas chehre se emote karna hai. It was a great change," Kirti added.

Seconding her point, Angad also said how difficult it was for him to play a character with a robotic expression. "Acting like a robot for me isn’t easy. Imagine this: on camera, the filmmaker tells you that this is how you’re supposed to be for 18 minutes. It's the toughest thing to do, and then you have to project certain emotions while you act all robotic," Angad said.

The actor further added his interest in taking up this project as he mentioned, "I think because this role was so new to me, it became all the more challenging because I am a very energetic person and having such stoic expressions is a task I thought was out of my league."

Both the actors went through a five-day workshop before they started shooting for the film.

Taking workshops for five days helped me a lot. I honestly didn’t think I would be able to pull this character off. "Every actor has certain advantages and disadvantages, and yes, it is good to challenge yourself," said Angad.

The List is written and directed by Gaurav Dave and is streaming on Amazon miniTV.
