PremiumKishkindha Kaandam: It's a wrap for the Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali-starrer family drama
The upcoming movies of Asif are Kasargold and Otta, both releasing on September 15

Asif Ali's family drama, Kishkindha Kaandam, has recently wrapped up its shooting. The film is helmed by Dinjith Ayyathan, known for Kakshi: Amminippilla, which also had Asif playing the lead role. Aparna Balamurali, who essayed female leads in Asif Ali's B Tech, Sunday Holiday and Thrissivaperoor Kliptham, joins the actor again in Kishkindha Kaandam. The cameraman of Kakshi: Amminippilla, Bahul Ramesh, has scripted Kishkindha Kaandam.
The shooting of the film started in July last year and the team shot in Kerala and Hyderabad. The first look poster of the movie was unveiled by Prithviraj Sukumaran. The poster featured a monkey sitting with a radio in his hands. Kishkindha Kaandam, which comes with the tagline 'Three Wise Monkeys', features Basil Joseph, Sudheesh, and Ashwathy Manoharan in supporting roles. Veteran actor Vijayaraghavan will be also featured in a pivotal role in this comedy-drama.
Sushin Shyam, known for his works in BheeshmaParvam, Kumbalangi Nights, and Trance, will be composing the music for Kishkindha Kaandam. Sushin's previous work in Malayalam was Jithu Madhavan's Romancham. Sooraj ES handles the editing department while Sameera Saneesh does the costume design.
Meanwhile, Asif Ali's previous film to hit theatres was the blockbuster 2018, which dealt with the devastating floods that happened in Kerala. The movie collected over Rs 200 crore from the worldwide box office and became the highest-grossing Malayalam film. The upcoming releases of Asif are Mridul Nair's crime drama, Kasargold and Oscar winner Resul Pookutty's directorial debut, Otta.
Kasargold is the second venture of Mridul with Asif after the successful film B Tech. Along with Asif Ali, Kasargold also features Vinayakan and Sunny Wayne.
Otta is based on real events and also features actors like Shobana, Arjun Ashokan and Devi. Shobana's last Malayalam film was Varane Avashyamund which was released in 2020. Both Otta and Kasargold will hit theatres on September 15.
