Rian Johnson’s whodunit Knives Out, which releases in 2019, was a big success. It wasn’t long after that Johnson teased the possibility of a sequel. He has now shared a first glimpse from the movie on Twitter in the form of a GIG.
The GIF shows a group of people on a ship and the shot moving back revealing Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc. The snippet was used by Netflix in a new trailer touting all of the upcoming 2022 releases on their platform. Johnson also wrote in the tweet, “I GIF’d! Just a tiny glimpse of the next Benoit Blanc mystery, much MUCH much more to come…”
Just like the first movie, Knives Out 2 also boasts an ensemble cast that includes Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick, and Ethan Hawke.
Following the commercial and critical success of Knives Out, Netflix shelled out a massive sum with the makers for two sequels. While the production of the first of the two sequels is done, reports suggest that the movie will only be out later this year.
The first instalment was an investigative mystery film that follows Craig’s Benoit Blanc, a master detective, as he tries to uncover the truth following the death of Harlan Thrombey, a wealthy mystery novelist.
The movie stars Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer.
Craig was last seen in the successful No Time To Die, the 25th movie in the iconic James Bond franchise. The movie also marked the actor’s final rodeo as the MI6 agent.
