Koffee With Karan: When John Abraham recalled how Karan Johar offered him a role in K3G which he turned down

John Abraham is a face synonymous with action movies today and his journey from a model to action star is well documented. When the actor appeared on Koffee With Karan back in 2005 with Vivek Oberoi, the actor talked about how Karan had offered him a role in his iconic Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. 

During the episode that aired in 2005, John and Karan talked about the past where John called out the filmmaker for offering him a small and forgettable role in the now iconic movie. 

Karan Johar also recollected those days and said that he thought that John would be great on the ramp but not on screen. He also added that he also asked the Force actor to weigh his other options and do other things. 

“I used to come to Karan for a lot of advice, then Karan said ‘I have got a great role for you in K3G which I want to offer you, of Robbie. I was looking out for Robbie in the whole movie, ‘where’s robby, where’s robby,’ I couldn’t see Robby,” John replied . 

Karan Johar then apologised to the actor and said that he never thought that John would reach the stage that he was at. John Abraham was sharing the couch with Vivek Oberoi as they were promoting their movie Kaal. 

The role Karan offered to John before he even made his acting debut with Jism, was that of the guy Kareena Kapoor gets to pose as her boyfriend to make Hrithik Roshan jealous in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. The role was eventually played by Vikas Sethi.

The incident happens in the 19th episode of the show’s first season and it is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar. The latest episodes from the show’s seventh season are also available on the streaming platform.
