Theatre on OTT? Yes, you heard that right! Remember how many frowned upon the idea of ‘digital’ or ‘cyber’ theatre during the pandemic, arguing that plays are a community art form best enjoyed when performed on stage in front of a live audience. While that remains the truth, there’s no harm in exploring the medium through a different lens, isn’t it? Speaking of the latest, noted actress and filmmaker Seema Bhargava Pahwa’s new dramatic reading series - titled Koi Baat Chale - is premiering today on ZEE5, in what can be described as theatre’s transition from stage to screen, as these new plays are now streaming on OTT.
Describing Koi Baat Chale as a ‘new dramatic reading experience’, the Gangubai Kathiawadi actor shared on social media that the series includes plays by six different writers - Manoj Pahwa (Toba Tek Singh), Vinay Pathak (Idgah), Vineet Kumar (Mammad Bhai), Sadiya Siddiqui (Hatak), Gopal Datt (Ek Film Katha) and Vivaan Shah (Gulli Danda). A Kopal Theatre presentation, these plays are inspired by the works of Harishankar Parsai, Saadat Hasan Manto and Munshi Premchand.
