Koogle Kuttappa gets 'U' certificate from Censor Board

Koogle Kuttappa has received the 'U' certificate from Censor Board. The film is a science fiction comedy drama, which is a remake of the 2019 Malayalam film Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 written and directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval. The Tamil version is directed by debutants Sabari–Saravanan, former assistants to director KS Ravikumar. The director duo had approached KS Ravikumar for an acting role, but since they didn't have the finance to go ahead with the project, KS Ravikumar jumped into their rescue and decided to bankroll the film.

The star cast for the film includes KS Ravikumar, Yogi Babu, Poovaiayar, Suresh Chandra Menon, G Marimuthu and Parthiban is the narrator. Former Bigg Boss contestants Tharshan Thiyagarajah and Losliya Mariyanesan play leads. This is the first time that reality show contestants are teaming up for a film. Cinematography for the film is by Arvi and editing is by Praveen Antony. 

The film revolves around the life of an old man who lives alone and the bond he develops with his humanoid robot, which has been presented to him by his son to who lives abroad. The Tamil makers had earlier stated that they had altered the original to suit the Tamil audiences. Now, the film gearing up for release on May 6. Tharshan had shared the news on his social media handle. He wrote,“The humanoid entertainer #KoogleKuttapa is all set to hit screens from May 6th.” 

The star cast in Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 included Suraj Venjaramoodu, Soubin Shahir, Kendy Zirdo, Sooraj Thelakkad, and Saiju Kurup. The film was critically acclaimed and won three Kerala State Awards including the Best Actor Award for Suraj. The Malayalam version had music by Bijibal, editing by Saiju Sreedharan and cinematography by Sanu Verghese. Sooraj Thelakkad had played the titular character of the humanoid robot Kunjappan and won praise from the critics and audiences alike.
