Kotee – Teaser of Dhananjaya’s film with Parameshwar Gundkal on THIS date

In Kannada cinema circles, it’s been known for a whole that Natarakshasa Daali Dhananjaya is doing a film with debutant director Parameshwar Gundkal. Dhananjaya had even inadvertently let slip that it was called ‘Kotee’, although no other detail about the film is in the public domain. Today, the team has officially announced the project, which marks Jio Studios’ foray into Kannada cinema, with further news that the teaser of the film will be released shortly.

Taking to social media on the auspicious occasion of Ugadi, Dhananjaya shared that the teaser of Kotee will be released on April 13. The poster, which features Dhananjaya sporting a lion-mane wig, with Rs 500 notes plastered across his face, reveals that cinematographer-editor Pratheek Shetty (of Kantara, Gandhada Gudi, etc., fame) is on board, as also 777 Charlie’s composer Nobin Paul, as well as composer-singer and frequent Dhananjaya collaborator, Vasuki Vaibhav. It was earlier revealed that model-turned-actress Moksha Kushal is paired opposite Dhananjaya. More details are expected to emerge once the teaser comes out.

What is interesting about Kotee is that although Parameshwar is a debutant filmmaker, he is no stranger to Kannada audiences, having served as the business head of various general entertainment channels, most notable being his stint with Colors Kannada, during which he ran shows like Bigg Boss Kannada, among many others. Known as Param in industry circles, the filmmaker’s move to Jio Studios, where he heads the Kannada cinema division, is part of the company’s plan to venture into film and web series production.

Dhananjaya: Going forward I will only do massy action entertainers for family audiences 

Param has been extremely tight-lipped about his directorial debut, but his track record with the TV channels he has been associated with has created excitement around the film. In an earlier media interaction, Dhananjaya had also said that his film with Param was one that he was excited about. Considering that work on Kotee began a year ago, it is speculated that the teaser will shed light on when to expect it in theatres and could just be Dhananjaya’s next release.
