Kottukkaali out on OTT: The film, known internationally as The Adamant Girl, explores themes of casteism, trauma, and power dynamics in a gripping narrative set in Madurai

Kottukkaali, this year’s critically acclaimed Tamil film starring actors Anna Ben and Soori in the lead roles, is now available for streaming on Aha Tamil and OTTplay Premium app. The film is helmed by filmmaker PS Vinothraj, and opened to exceptionally great reviews, and massive welcome at the international film festival circuit.
Kottukkaali is a critically acclaimed Tamil film starring actors Anna Ben and Soori in the lead roles. The film is directed by filmmaker PS Vinothraj, who earlier made the critically acclaimed film Koozhangal. After its theatrical run, the film is available for streaming on Aha Tamil, and will also be on OTTplay Premium app which can be downloaded from Google Play Store and App Store.
Called The Adamant Girl in the international circuit, Kottukkaali is a film set against the backdrop of Madurai. It revolves around a girl who refuses to speak up and communicate with her abusive household which does not agree to the fact that she is in love with a lowered caste man. The family believes she has committed a sin, which leads to the girl falling in silence. Thinking she is possessed; her family take her to a temple to the shaman. The film is a road trip drama on what happens to the characters in the film during the journey.
The film’s technical crew consists of B Sakthivel cranking the camera and Ganesh Siva as the editor. The film has no prominent music, with sound design by Suren G. Sivakarthikeyan has produced the film under the banner Sivakarthikeyan Productions.
