On the occasion of Kousalya Supraja Rama’s 50thday at the box office, director Shashank, who has also co-produced the Darling Krishna-led film along with BC Patil, announced that his latest directorial venture would be available to stream from September 15. Shashank, whose Love 360 went to Sun Network, was able to sell the digital rights of Kousalya Supraja Rama to Amazon Prime Video, where most of Krishna’s films since Love Mocktail are housed.
Kousalya Supraja Rama is a film that both Krishna and Shashank had described as their best works. In fact, the actor had gone on record to state that barring his own Love Mocktail 1 & 2, the script of Kousalya Supraja Rama was the only one that truly excited him in his decade-old career . It is also the only film that he signed up for after Love Mocktail 2. At the trailer launch, Shashank had said that the film is his best and was his attempt to break Krishna out of the Love Mocktail mould that he had got stuck in, owing to which audiences had been complaining that the actor was repetitive in his work.
In Kousalya Supraja Rama, Krishna played a character, who treats women with zilch respect, following in his father Siddegowda’s (Rangayana Raghu) footsteps. He loses out on love because of this, and is then given a taste of what it feels like to be subjected to such behaviour when he marries Muthulakshmi (Milana Nagaraj). While the subject was, no doubt, the highlight of Kousalya Supraja Rama, the performances of each cast member was also stellar. Krishna and Milana, of course, were at their best, but Nagabhushana, Brinda Acharya and Sudha Belawadi also had stand-out roles. The film’s music by Arjun Janya was also a major plus point.
