Looks like the Kranti storm has begun well ahead of time as the first day's advance booking reports reveal a massive film on cards. Yes, as per the latest trade reports, the Challenging Star Darshan film has taken off to a great start with more than 75,000 tickets sold in advance for the opening day of the film's release.
As reported by sacnilk.com, Kranti has already collected Rs. 1.96 crores (gross figures) with Day #1 advance ticket sales with Karnataka being the only area of focus at the moment. The makers, along with Darshan himself, have pushed the film during the promotions as a bona fide Kannada film that is rooted in the heartland - although Kranti is slated to release in other languages in a dubbed form, the team has insisted throughout that their film, in essence, is here to cater to the people of Karnataka.
"I can't term this pan-India film because the problem we have addressed here concerns Karnataka - the same issue may not be relevant in other states," said Darshan in a recent conversation with OTTplay.
As far as the advance bookings are concerned, Kranti is said to have sold 77,700 tickets for the opening day of release (January 26th) with Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, and Gulbarga regions faring extremely well in this regard. As of the morning of Monday, January 23rd, Bengaluru, the capital city, stands as the biggest contributor so far but that's mainly because of a considerably higher screen count as compared to other regions.
Kranti is slated to clash with another giant in the form of Pathaan, a film that stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Pathaan gets a head-start on Kranti by releasing a day prior, on January 25th, and with the film being Khan's comeback, so to speak, fans have been ardently waiting to witness the high-octane action on the big screen. The same trade reports reveal that Pathaan is off to an incredible start with as many as 6,63,150 tickets (Hindi & Telugu combined) sold in advance for the opening day of the film's release. The film is said to have already grossed a huge figure with advance sales and is currently well-placed to break several box office records.
Well, at this point, it is safe to say that the Republic Day extended weekend (which technically begins on a Wednesday!) is poised very well with two major films coming out. Fans of the DBoss would certainly hope that Kranti offers the expected stiff competition and holds up well in the long run. More updates to follow.
