There's no denying that Kranti was touted to be the next major commercial success in Kannada cinema, with many believing that the year 2023 would be off to a great start because of the Challenging Star's mega star power. The makers, too, seemed quite confident about the prospects, with producer Shylaja Nag asserting that Kranti would pose an incredibly tough challenge even to the mighty Pathaan, should things come down to that. And while the Darshan starrer did have a really good start at the box office, the underwhelming reviews and not-so-sparkly word-of-mouth publicity caused a significant dip in collections.

Since its release, Kranti has managed to collect a little over Rs. 25 crores with the first Monday of the theatrical run yielding only Rs. 2.52 crores (as per sacnilk.com).

And yet, one finds reports of the film entering the Rs. 100 crore club emerging, albeit without any properly substantiating evidence. While it is true that Kranti has, quite indeed, already earned its makers Rs. 100 crores, a few of the reports carrying this information do not reveal that the figure is a combination of box office and satellite/digital earnings.

With Kranti having a predominantly Karnataka-only, theatrical release, the film's box office run has been stunted by the limited reach and only certain key areas of the state have been contributing to the collections so far. Thereby, it would seem totally far-fetched that the film has grossed more than Rs. 100 crores at the box office. The makers, too, have made no claims so far regarding the box office collections.

Kranti hit the big screens on January 26th, a day after the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan released worldwide and began to stir up a massive storm. While the ardent Challenging Star Darshan fans appreciated the film, many criticized the lack of novelty in the film and also the fact that V. Harikrishna, the film's director, depends heavily on Darshan's star power and not a solid narrative. Some of the fans have even urged the superstar actor to not collaborate with the same team again.
