Kranti is Challenging Star Darshan’s next big release. The film, which sees him reunite with the team behind Yajamana, including director-composer V Harikrishna and producers Shylaja Nag and B Suresha, is apparently ready and awaiting a good release window. There have been rumours suggesting that Kranti could target a Dasara release, given that it was launched last year on Vijayadashami, which was then followed by a possible Rajyotsava outing, given that Dhananjaya’s Hoysala had vacated that spot.

But with no word from the makers and Darshan moving on to begin work on his next with Tarun Sudhir, it was understood that a 2022 release is out of question. While Hoysala has moved to the end of March, Dhruva Sarja’s Martin is also expected in the first quarter of the year, having been pushed ahead from September 30. Industry insiders reckoned that Kranti could be a Sankranti release, but with several Tamil and Telugu biggies lined up, the better bet would be to target the Republic Day holiday.

According to the latest buzz in the industry, Kranti will release on January 26, 2023. #KrantiRevolutionfromJan26, #Kranti, #DBoss were some of the hashtags that have been trending today, claiming that the release date has been fixed and that the team will officially confirm the same on October 31.

The film, in which Darshan is paired with Rachita Ram yet again, is supposedly about the education system, with the actor playing an NRI who returns home to save a government-run Kannada medium school. Kranti is a pan-India film with versions in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, but the subject of the film has fans wondering how it will be suitable in the other languages.

Over the past several months, Darshan’s fans across the state have been going on promotional processions to drum up buzz about Kranti. The makers of the film had claimed that they had nothing to do with this and that fans were doing it owing to the craze surrounding the project. At the time, Darshan’s comment about the love his fans were showing him being akin to that of how fans thronged Bengaluru when Puneeth Rajkumar passed away, had been mired in controversy.
