Kranti Trailer: Did you spot this interesting 'Sangolli Rayanna' reference from the Darshan starrer?

Challenging Star Darshan's fans are currently over the moon about the fact that their beloved superstar is all set to soon grace the silver screen. Darshan, who is generally away from the arclights when he isn't promoting a film, has been in the public eye for the last few weeks owing to his Kranti pre-release commitments. The wait, however, will soon be over as the much-awaited film hits the big screen on January 26th, clashing with the mighty Pathaan. And judging by all the frenzy ahead of the release, one can rest assured that fans will get to witness their favourite DBoss in all his glory.

Darshan, as the trailer shows, is on a tall mission in the film to save government educational institutions in Karnataka and for that, he leaves behind a bright and resplendent life in a foreign country to return home, brimming with responsibility. Quite apparently, the film bustles with a strong sense of pride and loyalty for the homeland and Darshan, a proud Kannadiga himself, can be seen driving home the message with his hefty blows and punchy lines. 

Interestingly, Kranti features a nod to one of Darshan's most memorable performances on screen. Care to take a guess?

In one of the trailer's many blink-and-miss moments, one can spot that there is a special shoutout to the legendary warrior Sangolli Rayanna. Darshan's character in the film is called Kranti Rayanna, which comes as a homage to the nineteenth-century revolutionary whose life was the main subject of the 2012 film Sangolli Rayanna, wherein Darshan played the titular role.

In his recent exclusive chat with OTTplay, Darshan spoke about the 'Kranti', or the revolution, that Sangolli Rayanna caused during his lifetime and how his character in the upcoming film carries the ethos, albeit through slightly more glorified and massy means. Darshan returns to the big screen after a gap of nearly two years, with his most recent release being Tharun Kishore Sudhir's Roberrt (February, 2021).
