Kannada actor Krishna Ajai Rao’s been toying with the idea of turning director for a while. In fact, last year, when his film Love You Rachchu came out, there was an issue with the makers and the actor refused to promote it with the team as they refused to acknowledge his involvement in the making of the film. Supposedly directed by newcomer Shankar, Love You Rachchu was a film based on a story by director Shashank, which he gave Ajai, as he was busy with other commitments and could not direct it at the time. Yet another director, Guru Deshpande stepped in to produce it and given Shankar’s relative inexperience, Ajai claimed that he had directed a bulk of the film and even choreographed a song.

The team, though, remained steadfast that Love You Rachchu was a Shankar directorial. Despite this ‘bitter’ experience, Ajai has not given on his direction dreams. According to reports, the actor is currently in the process of writing the script for a directorial that will possibly take off by the end of the year. In the meantime, though, Ajai will work on a couple of projects as actor, starting with a film to be directed by Manju Swaraj.

In fact, Ajai will start working on Manju Swaraj’s period love story that is based on a novel. The actor is also on the lookout for a suitable script to back as producer. The actor has been quoted as saying that he will get his directorial on floors after his film with Manju Swaraj and a second project that he will produce.

Up next, though, Ajai Rao will be seen in Shokiwala, a commercial entertainer directed by Jocky, in which he is paired with Sanjana Anand. The film is set to get a Telugu release as well.
