Kristen Stewart, who will make her directorial debut with The Chronology of Water, has commenced the casting process. The film is an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch's memoir of the same name.

In a conversation with Variety, the actor said that the team is currently looking to cast the lead role of Yuknavitch: "We’re casting right now. We’ve been putting together and have been thinking about this for a really long time. I’m so stoked. It’s taken the time it’s needed. Some of these take a decade to put together. I just jump every gun in my life and start talking about stuff before they’re really relevant, but it’s more relevant than ever. Now we’re casting the movie. We’re finding our Lidia Yuknavitch."

Stewart was also asked whether she intended to make a brief appearance in the film, but the actor said the film has no part for her. She said she is still trying to figure out a way to make space for herself, but in all likelihood that will not happen.

Stewart is gearing up for the release of Pablo Larraín’s Spencer in which she takes on the role of the late Princess Diana. The film, after its screening at the Venice and Toronto film festivals, was given rave reviews for her performance as well as the overall story.

The cast also includes Jack Farthing, Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins, and Sean Harris. Spencer will release theatrically in the US and UK on November 5.

She will also be seen in David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future along with Viggo Mortensen and Léa Seydoux.
