Tovino Thomas’ big budget period film Ajayante Randam Moshanam is finally set to go on floors. The movie, which was first announced in 2020, has taken almost three years to get it in place with the pandemic restrictions and uncertainty of audiences coming back to theatres being its major hurdles.

On Thursday, the film’s director Jithin Lal had put out a casting call for the movie. It’s also reported that Telugu actress Krithi Shetty, who had starred in films such as Uppena, Shyam Singha Roy and The Warriorr, has been roped in to play the female lead in the film. This would mark Krithi’s first ever Malayalam film.

Ajayante Randam Moshanam will have Tovino playing a triple role. Set to be shot in North Kerala, the movie traverses a story that involves three generations and has portions set in 1900, 1950 and 1990. In an earlier interview, Jithin had said that Tovino plays Maniyan, Kunjikelu and Ajayan in the film, with the titular character being from the 90s where the dominant storyline is told.

The movie has been planned as a pan-Indian subject even when it was announced back in January 1, 2020, and the acceptance of such big budget films post the pandemic has helped the makers mount the project on the scale they had first envisioned.

Meanwhile, Tovino is gearing up for the release of his first all-out entertainer with Thallumaala, which also has Kalyani Priyadarshan as part of the cast. The film, which is helmed by Khalid Rahman, is set to hit theatres on August 12.

In a recent interview with us, the actor said that it was one of his toughest roles due to the action and dance sequences. “Thallumaala will probably have one of my best performances. If you look at the previous films of the director and scriptwriters of this film, you would understand that they would never compromise on the quality even if it’s an all-out commercial movie,” he said.
