It was a cloud nine moment for sure for Kriti Sanon when she was announced as the winner for the Best Actress Award at the recently announced 69th National Film Awards. The actor won the award for her performance in Mimi, and she shared it with Alia Bhatt for Gangubai Kathiawadi. During a recent interaction, Kriti revealed her reaction in the first few minutes of the announcement and how she froze on hearing her name.

Emotional reactioin to winning the Best Actress Award

The actor told Midday that the National Awards announced that she had received the award for Best Actor, and for a moment, she couldn't move. The performer recalled that she got almost teary-eyed and ran to her parents' room to break it to them. Kriti sees the award as more than just a compliment; it also grants her a lifelong dream. She claimed that this has always been a professional goal of hers, and she documented the incident in a private journal. She explains that not many actors get to live this moment.

Challenges of finding scripts that showcase full talent

The victory has raised the bar even higher for her in the eyes of the public. As she puts it, if people believe in her talent, she needs to up her game. Yet she is cognizant of the scarcity of films like Mimi, which test the limits of an actor's abilities. She claims that no other film has used her full talent until Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017). In both Mimi and Bareilly Ki Barfi, her role was important. What this tells her is that people enjoy watching her portray complex characters. Finding good scripts that a single person can manage is really challenging, and she has been looking for scripts like that.

She continues by saying that she is excited to show off her range in films like The Crew alongside Tabu and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Mutual congratulations

Meanwhile, Alia, with whom she shares the Best Actor title for Gangubai Kathiawadi, should also be mentioned in any discussion of her National Award achievement. Kriti admits she contacted her soon after the awards were announced.

The actor said that in the role of Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia shone brilliantly. Her acting skills are something Kriti has always appreciated. She told her how pleased she was for her and for herself, and they both just started screaming into the phone. Kriti added that they promised each other that they would toast this achievement when they went to accept it together.
