It’s been a while since director Gautham Menon had taken to social media to announce the collaboration between him and Silambarasan for the fourth time, for the duo’s upcoming film Nadhigalilae Neeradum Suriyan. A photoshoot of the project took place a few weeks ago, it is expected that the rest of the cast will be finalised shortly. AR Rahman has been roped in to compose music; he was the music director for the duo’s previous outings, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. The movie is set to be produced by Ishari Ganesh of Vels Film International that produced films like Comali, LKG, Mookuthi Amman and many more.
According to the grapevine, Kriti Sanon, who is basking in the success of Laxman Utekar’s Mimi, is likely to play the female lead opposite STR in the movie. It is said that an official announcement on the project’s leading lady will be made soon.
Kriti, who had made her south debut in Telugu in 2014 with Mahesh Babu-starrer 1: Nenokkadine, later went on to play opposite Naga Chaitanya in Dohchay. If everything goes well, Nadhigalilae Neeradum Suriyan would be the actress’s Tamil debut.
STR, who was seen in Eeswaran earlier this year, is currently awaiting the release of Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Maanadu’. Billed as a political thriller, the film has Kalyani Priyadarshan essaying the female lead. The actor is also playing the lead in ‘Pathu Thala’, the upcoming Tamil remake of the Kannada film Mufti, that also stars Gautham Karthik in a crucial role. Besides, he will also be seen doing a special appearance in Hansika Motwani’s ‘Maha’.
Gautham Menon is currently awaiting the release of his directorial ventures, Dhruva Natchathiram and Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha, which are also bankrolled under Vels Film International.
