Madhumita Sarcar and Vikram Chatterjee’s romantic family drama Kuler Achaar was released on July 15 in theatres. Now the film is all geared up to be dropped on Hoichoi one and a half months after its theatrical release. Directed by Sudeep Das, the film also features Indrani Halder and Sujan Mukhopadhyay.
The film delves into the life of Mithi, played by Madhumita, who decides not to change her surname after marriage. While her in-laws, Sujan Mukhopadhyay and Indrani Halder, accept it initially, they go against her wish and insist she changes her surname. Her husband Vikram tries to convince her father but her mother suddenly decides to change her surname to her maiden name. The film turns into a relationship story between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.
Earlier, while talking to us, Madhumita said that the film is not just about a tiff between Mithi and her in-laws over her surname. “It also questions a lot of social conventions,” she said. While the film presents a very convincing performance by Indrani and Sujan and solid chemistry between Vikram and Madhuimita, Kuler Achaar fails to impress the box office reports. Critics panned the film for lack of convincing crisis and stereotypical problems.
Kuler Achaar also marks a comeback for Indrani Halder on the big screen. The actress has been busy playing the key character in Star Jalsha’s mega serial, Shreemoyee. Vikram and Madhumita are very busy with their schedule. While Madhumita has recently worked in a Telugu film, Vikram has just wrapped shooting for Aritra Sen’s Sohorer Ushnotomo Dine. He has also worked in Atanu Ghosh’s Sesh Pata and the second season of his musical thriller Rudrabinar Obhishaap was dropped on Friday on Hoichoi.
