Kunchacko Boban to team up with Shahi Kabir again after Officer on Duty success; yet another cop film in the making?
Kunchacko Boban has announced his next film, which would see him once again joining hands with writer-filmmaker Shahi Kabir, who had also penned the hit movie Officer on Duty.

Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban made a terrific start to 2025 with his film Officer on Duty turning out to be a hit at the box office. The popular actor, who has long shed his chocolate boy looks and seems to be chasing more thrillers these days, has announced his next, which would see him once again joining hands with writer-filmmaker Shahi Kabir, who had also penned Officer on Duty. The upcoming film is helmed by debutant Kiraan Das.
Kunchacko Boban-Shahi Kabir film
Kunchacko Boban shared the announcement poster of his yet-to-be-titled film online, which revealed the crew and the main cast of the new project. Apart from Kunchacko, the film will also feature actress Lijomol Jose in a key role. Shahi Kabir is the writer, while editor Kiran Das will be making his directorial debut. Arun Sethu is the DOP, with Justine Varghese in charge of the music. Kiran Das will also double up as the editor. More details of the cast or the genre of the film are not known. But given that the film is written by Shahi Kabir, expectations are high for a cop film, as all his films revolve around the police force.
Yet another cop film by Shahi Kabir?
Shahi Kabir has already penned two films this year - Ronth and Officer on Duty - both of which were cops at the centre of the narrative. Officer on Duty was helmed by Jithu Ashraf, while Ronth, which stars Roshan Mathew and Dileesh Pothan, was also directed by Shahi. Shahi Kabir, a former cop who entered the filmworld, is back to wielding his pen again, fans are hoping if this would be another cop drama from the noted writer-filmmaker.
The upcoming film marks the third collaboration between Shahi Kabir and Kunchacko Boban after Nayattu and Officer on Duty. Shahi Kabir had won the Kerala state award for best debut director award for Ela Veezha Poonchira in 2023.
