Kunchacko Boban’s Nayattu to stream on Netflix?

Malayalam survival-thriller film Nayattu hit the big screens less than a month ago and was instantly a raging success. This Martin Prakkat directorial, starring Kunchacko Boban, Joju George and Nimisha Sajayan, follows three cops who are on the run after they accidentally get involved in a crime. According to reports, filmmakers of Nayattu have bagged a deal with Netflix and the film is soon to stream on the OTT platform.

Though an official word is awaited from the team of Nayattu, May 25 is expected to be the date of release. The speculation of an OTT release is not completely unexpected for many releases this year, considering the restrictions that most theatres have imposed in order to curb the pandemic.

Nayattu has garnered immense praise after its theatrical release on April 8. The plot of the film revolves around corruption that exists in political structures within the nation and the unfair practices of many police officers. Maniyan (Kunchacko), Praveen (Joju) and Sunitha (Nimisha Sajayan) are police officers who are forced to  escape when they realise that they are being framed for a murder they did not commit.

Kunchacko has been getting in shape for the role since December 2019. While the shoot was stalled due to the lockdown in March last year, this was the first project the actor completed as soon as the lockdown restrictions were eased. The actor’s efforts seem to have paid off, with his performance getting lauded by the audience.

Fans are awaiting a confirmation from the filmmakers of Nayattu about a release date for OTT platforms.
