Kung Fu Yoga is a 2017 Chinese action-adventure comedy film that brought Sonu Sood and Jackie Chan together for the first time. Apart from Sood, Disha Patani and Amyra Dastur are also featured in the movie. It is Chan’s highest-grossing film in China and there are rumors wafting around about a second installment of the franchise. Sood teased the possibility of rejoining the team for Kung Fu Yoga 2.
Sonu Sood recently came back to India after a 45-day schedule of Roadies 18. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, he spoke about the reality show and his film with Jackie Chan. Sood said he always loved and been a fan of Roadies. “They try to showcase their specialties, and this time when they told me that they are creating a new world (in the show), in a new way, I was like - let's do our bit by merging my world with theirs and creating a new world,” he said.”
Meanwhile, Sood also ignited a spark when he casually teased the possibility of reuniting with Jackie Chan on the screen. When asked about it, he stated that the makers had planned for it but then, the pandemic happened. He also said that they were writing the script and had even shared the idea with him. “But then the whole Corona thing came, and lots of things have happened, especially in China also,” he said.

Kung Fu Yoga is written and directed by Stanley Tong and is produced by Jackie Chan. The story revolves around a renowned professor of archaeology from China who teams up with a young Indian professor to locate India’s lost treasure in Tibet. However, their efforts are interrupted by a group of mercenaries, led by Randall (Sonu Sood).
The on-screen bad man, Sood is strikingly opposite in real life. He has been conferred with various prestigious awards for his humanitarian contributions throughout the pandemic. Recently, he was also awarded a UAE Golden Visa by the authorities for his relentless contribution to society at large. Interestingly, a portion of Kung Fu Yoga was shot in Dubai.
