Kurangu Pedal OTT release date: The film is backed by Sivakarthikeyan and is a period drama featuring child artists

We had earlier reported that the recently released Tamil film Kurangu Pedal will be streaming on Aha Tamil. The platform on Friday, announced that the film will premiere on Aha Tamil on June 14. The film is backed by Sivakarthikeyan Productions and will also be available on OTTplay Premium.

Kurangu Pedal is a period drama which is backed by actor Sivakarthikeyan under his home banner Sivakarthikeyan Productions. The film is directed by filmmaker Kamalakannan. Kurangu Pedal released in theatres on May 3. Following its theatrical run, the film will begin premiering on Aha Tamil and OTTplay Premium on June 14.

Sivakarthikeyan said about the film, "The film talks about the nostalgic moments and how children spent their summer vacations in the 80s and learn how to ride bicycle.”
Kurangu Pedal has been celebrated in the festival circuit after it became one of the three Tamil films to be screened at the Indian Panorama section of the 53rd International Film Festival of India. It revolves around a bunch of schoolboys who aspire to learn how to ride a bicycle all on their own during their summer vacations. The film throws light on the difficulties the boys face while trying to learn all by their own.

Kurangu Pedal features a cast comprising of actors Santhosh Velmurugan, VR Ragavan, M Gnanasekar, Rathish, Sai Ganesh, Kaali Venkat, Prasanna Balachander, Jenson Diwakar and others. Bankrolled by Sivakarthikeyan, along with Savitha Shanmugam and SuMee Baskaran, Kurangu Pedal has music scored by Ghibran Vaibodha, editing by Shivanandeeswaran and cinematography by SuMee.
“The film had all the potential out there and also had them served almost on a platter, but failed to capitalise into making it something deeper," reads OTTplay review of the film.
Aha Tamil has been picking up on increasing its Tamil content library. The platform has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of several 2024 Tamil releases, including Romeo, Hot Spot, The Boys and Boomer Uncle, to name a few.
