Kurukkan, the investigative comedy film directed by debutant director Jayalal Divakaran, has received mixed reviews from viewers. Now, the director of Kurukkan has shared his thoughts on the negative reviews, the movie is receiving. In an interview with Cue Studio, Jayalal stated that negative reviews can be detrimental to a movie's success and that the attack on BookMyShow was premeditated.

"The movie has received positive reviews from those who watched it in theaters. I have not heard any negative feedback. However, negative reviews are becoming more prevalent as some individuals post them to gain views. Unfortunately, some people rely on these reviews to decide whether or not to watch a movie. As a result, reviewers who post negative reviews do not face a decline in their view count. In my opinion, it would benefit the movie industry as a whole if movie organizations took a stand against these negative reviews," Jayalal was talking to Cue Studio.

He also said that the script was pitched to Sreenivasan first and later Vineeth was involved.

"Initially, the script was presented to Sreenivasan with his character as the central role, portraying a deceptive witness. However, Vineeth later entered the picture to play the part of Shine Tom Chacko. Eventually, the roles were exchanged, and Vineeth proposed that the film should be approached in a comical manner."

Writer Manoj Ramsingh previously raised concerns about the film's negative reviews on BookMyShow. He speculated that the cyber attack was in response to some people being denied money by the producer. Manoj also said that he investigated the Email Ids of those who posted negative feedback.

Kurukkan revolves around an eccentric police officer investigating a case. The film is a mixture of comedy, murder mystery, and investigation. Kurukkan is also noted for the comeback of veteran actor Sreenivasan in a full-length role. The film also stars Srikant Murali, Gowri Nandha, Sruthy Jayan, and Ashwath Lal.
