Son of Muthanna, led by Pranam Devaraj and Rangayana Raghu, is a film that’s been ready for release for a while. The film, which also stars Kushee Ravi in the lead, is now slated to hit theatres on August 22, 2025. The team recently got together for a song launch, during which the makers mentioned that Kushee had to make the trip from the set of a Tamil film. And then the actress took the opportunity to highlight that she was working in other languages because she has no offers back home.

Dearth of quality scripts in Kannada cinema: Kushee Ravi

“After my Kannada web series Ayyana Mane did well and was dubbed in other languages, I was asked if there was a flurry of offers coming way. Well, I have been getting film offers but not in Kannada. I am not sure why this is happening, but I have heard from fellow actresses that the number of scripts coming their way too has reduced drastically. I do hope this changes and I get to work with amazing teams like the one of Son of Muthanna,” said Kushee at the recent press meet.

The actress added that for artistes like her the challenge is in finding a balance between doing every film possible, irrespective of its quality, and trying to be choosy with no work at times. Right now, she’s chosen to follow the path of quality work, wherever it comes from, but maintains that her priority is and will always remain Kannada cinema.

There is a lack of good writers and young filmmakers who will bring new and novel ideas to the screen, she reckons. “When you allow new talent to blossom and good stories come to the screen, heroes and heroines will also benefit in the process,” says the actress, who has a few projects in Tamil and Telugu in her kitty currently. “I am doing a Tamil film with Selvaraghavan sir, which they are looking at finishing in one schedule and releasing by the end of the year. It’s a great opportunity to work with a legend like him, in a film that gives me a good story and character,” she says.
