Official confirmation came a few months ago that Aasmaan Bhardwaj, son of ace filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj was going to make his directorial debut. The movie’s first look poster and star cast was also later revealed. Actor Arjun Kapoor, who is a part of the movie’s cast, has now opened up about the first time director and how he is not trying to be his father.

As reported by Mid Day, Arjun Kapoor said that when Vishal and Aasmaan narrated the film, he was drawn to the fact that Aasmaan was not trying to mimic his father but there was reminiscence of what he had learnt from his father. The actor also added that the father-son duo have overlapping qualities and that Vishal Bhardwaj has been very much involved as a producer.

Arjun also revealed that he jokes around with Aasmaan saying that the father made Kaminey and the son is now making Kuttey. He also said that Vishal Bhardwaj does not have a chip on his shoulder and is a great listener who is ready to take in inputs.

Tabu, who is also a part of Kuttey’s cast, previously stated that Aasmaan is very different from his father. Having already worked with Vishaal in Maqbool and Haider, she said that the father-son duo is worlds apart.

Apart from Arjun and Tabu, Kuttey also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Radhika Madan, Ali Fazal, Kumud Mishra and Shardul Bhardwaj. Aasmaan has assisted his father in 7 Khoon Maaf, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Pataakha. Vishal has also co-written the movie’s script with his son.

Presented by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, the movie is backed by Vishal and filmmaker Luv Ranjan.
