Amitabh Bachchan ushered in a new era of smooth criminals with his 1978 film Don. The crime thriller left behind a memorable legacy indeed, becoming a hit both at the box office and among audiences. Bachchan recently took a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about the huge success of the film.

Taking to his official Instagram handle, the actor posted a black and white picture of a crowd of people standing in a long queue. In the post’s caption, Bachchan revealed that the queue was for the advanced booking of Don, which was released almost 44 years ago. The actor went to write about how people said the lines for the film were a ‘mile long’ and also recounted how the other ‘blockbusters’ of his career which were released in 1978 including Kasme Vaade, Trishul, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Ganga Ki Saugandh. Saying that some of the films even ran for 50 weeks at the box office, the actor wrote “Kya din the wo bhi !!”.

Don, directed by Chandra Barot and written by Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, also starred Zeenat Aman, Pran, Iftekhar and Helen in pivotal roles. The crime thriller, which saw Bachchan in a double role, has been remade in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. The Hindi remake featured Shah Rukh Khan take up the titular role. Meanwhile Bachchan, who was last seen in Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34, has a host of releases lined up. They include Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva, Sooraj R. Barjatya’s Uunchai, Nag Ashwin’s Project K as well as Vikas Bahl’s Goodbye, among others.
