L2 Empuraan, the second instalment in the Lucifer trilogy, starring actor Mohanlal, under Prithviraj Sukumaran's direction, is currently running in cinemas. Hit the screens on March 27, Thursday, Empuraan is an action thriller which has gone on to become the highest grossing Malayalam film so far this year, and has collected Rs 78 crore at the domestic box office so far in all languages.

Mohanlal's latest action thriller L2 Empuraan has been in the epicentre of controversy since its release on Thursday, March 27. The film, which is penned by Murali Gopi and directed by actor Prithiviraj Sukumaran, is the second part in the planned Lucifer trilogy.
As per Sacnilk report, the Mohanlal-starrer has minted Rs 78 crore within six days in all languages, in India. The global box office has already smashed records and became the fastest film in Malayalam to cross Rs 200 crore within two days. With no major Malayalam releases planned until April 10, Empuraan is expected to have an easy and comfortable run in theatres.
Empuraan has been embroiled in controversy after it drew ire of right-wing groups for certain portions in the film. Following this, the team of Empuraan decided to make "voluntary modifications". Some of the changes include BJP leader Suresh Gopi's name removed from thanks card, word NIA being muted, visuals of vehicles passing in front of religious structures and a religious structure being removed. All these are part of the 24 changes done by the makers.
The sequel found its way to theatres six years after the first part Lucifer released. Lucifer is considered as one of Mohanlal's blockbuster thrillers. The dubbed version of Lucifer is available on OTTplay Premium to watch at discounted price.
