Reportedly, L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, will begin shooting again on January 10. Over the course of 20 days, the filming will take place in a number of UK locations.

On January 8, the director and his group left for the UK. The team will arrive in Chennai for the next schedule following these 20 days of filming. The set creation in Chennai is progressing.

Prior to wrapping up Empuraan, Prithviraj will be finishing the filming of his other commitments, which include Vilayath Buddha and Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, in which he plays the lead roles.

The Empuraan crew and actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran have been busy location-searching for the Mohanlal-starring movie last year. One of the largest Malayalam films ever planned had three teams sent to look for locations. They reportedly narrowed down their search to six different countries.

Mohanlal and Prithviraj, who played Khureshi Abram and Zayed Masood, respectively, will be back in the film, which will include elements of Stephen Nedumpally's, aka Khureshi Abram's, storyline from both the past and the present.

The second installment in the Lucifer franchise is penned by Murali Gopy. The action thriller is anticipated to feature a number of the prequel's cast members, such as Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier, in addition to actors from other film industries.

Subaskaran Allirajah and Antony Perumbavoor are producing the film under the banner of Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas. The COVID-19 pandemic caused production delays for Empuraan, whose launch was initially scheduled for mid-2020. The announcement for the film was made in June 2019, and the script was completed in 2022.

Kerala's unpredictable politics served as the backdrop for Lucifer. The political thriller was a huge hit, grossing Rs. 200 crore at the box office. The film, which was released in 2019, also featured Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sai Kumar, John Vijay, Baiju Santhosh, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and Sachin Khedekar in prominent roles. It also marked Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut.
