L2 Empuraan on OTT: Where and when to stream Mohanlal film in Telugu

L2 Empuraan, the recently released Malayalam action film starring Mohanlal in the leading role, made much splash at the box office and courted controversy, upon its theatrical release. Now, after the run at the big screen, the film is gearing up for its streaming debut. JioHotstar announced that the film will release on April 24 on the platform. If you are wondering if the Mohanlal-starrer will only release in Malayalam, worry you not. Empuraan will be available in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada as well.

Actor Mohanlal, who is waiting for the release of Thudarum, was last seen in L2 Empuraan, the second instalment in the Lucifer trilogy. The film hit theatres in March and is now gearing up for OTT release. JioHotstar will stream it from April 24 onwards. The Malayalam film will also be made available in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. The Hindi version is yet to be announced.

Directed by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran with a story penned by Murali Gopy, L2 Empuraan became one of the highest-grossing films in Malayalam so far this year. However, the film also faced backlash and courted controversy for its portions which depicted riots akin to Gujarat riots of 2002. After certain right-wing groups objectified it, the makers of Mohanlal-starrer made some modifications, which results in an end to IMAX screenings. On top of this, Mohanlal also put up a post apologising on behalf of the team.
