The Hindi dub of L2: Empuraan has finally arrived on OTT after a record-breaking theatrical run and release in other South Indian languages via streaming. You can now enjoy it on JioHotstar. In addition to its March 27 theatrical release, the political action thriller in Malayalam has been available on the platform along with Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada dubs since April 24. Today's release of the Hindi version enhanced the film's reach to a wider pan-Indian audience.
L2: Empuraan is the second installment in the Lucifer trilogy, scripted by Murali Gopy and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran (Cold Case and Ranam). With Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and international performers including Jerome Flynn and Rick Yune, the film features Mohanlal (Manorathangal and Odiyan), who reprises his role as the mysterious Khureshi-Ab'Raam.
The film's lengthy production timeline was caused by internal production reshuffles and the pandemic. Antony Perumbavoor, Subaskaran Allirajah, and Gokulam Gopalan worked together as producers under the labels of Aashirvad Cinemas, Lyca Productions, and Sree Gokulam Movies. L2: Empuraan surmounted all these challenges to achieve commercial success. Aside from being the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, it has also become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time.
Political unrest in Kerala and beyond is the subject of this film, which takes place five years after Lucifer (2019). As the protagonist deals with unpredictable power struggles, the plot unravels to reveal a web of global conspiracies, secret operatives, and bureaucrats. Production values on an international scale, powerful performances, and an intense storyline have all contributed to the film's positive reviews.
The makers are trying to reach a digital audience in North India that might not have watched the film in theatres or in other dubs by making the Hindi version available on JioHotstar. This development bolsters the growing momentum of the pan-Indian narrative, which has successfully dismantled linguistic barriers within the film industry, as the makers had anticipated.
For those unfamiliar with Lucifer, L2: Empuraan functions as a standalone entry, though returning viewers may find deeper context through narrative callbacks.
Production on the trilogy's third and last instalment is set to begin soon.
