Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran are teaming up for the third time, for the upcoming film, L2 Empuraan. The movie, a sequel to the celebrated actor-director duo’s 2019-released blockbuster Lucifer, is gearing up for a March 2025 release. As per the latest updates, the upcoming Mohanlal starrer is now nearing the final stages of its production. Prithviraj Sukumaran recently confirmed that the film’s first cut is finished, leaving audiences surprised.
Prithviraj Sukumaran drops L2 Empuraan update
Recently, the actor-filmmaker took to their official social media handles and dropped a major update on L2 Empuraan. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is currently busy with the post-production of the film in Mumbai, shared editor Akhilesh Mohan’s picture from the studio console with a caption, that reads: “#L2E #Empuraan First cut done! @excelmovies @akhileshmohan.” The director’s update came out as a big surprise for the audiences, who are eagerly waiting for the film to release.

L2 Empuraan character posters on its way
The post-production works of L2 Empuraan have been progressing at a fast pace and are nearing completion. If the recent updates are to be believed, director Prithviraj Sukumaran and his team are planning to kickstart releasing the character posters of Mohanlal’s upcoming film, in a few weeks. Just like Lucifer, the makers are reportedly planning to have an extensive poster release campaign for the upcoming project, which is touted to be the biggest-ever project made in Malayalam cinema.
Mohanlal is set to reprise the much-loved character Khureshi Abraam aka Stephen Nedumpally in L2 Empuraan. Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Saikumar, and Baiju Santhosh are set to return as Zayed Masood, Jatin Ramdas, Govardhan, Priyadarshini Ramdas, Mahesha Varma, and Murugan in the film. The Lucifer sequel’s additional star cast includes Suraj Venjaramoodu, Shine Tom Chacko, Arjun Das, Caroline Koziol, Abhimanyu Singh, and others. The much-awaited L2 Empuraan teaser is expected to be out by the first week of January 2025.
