L2 Empuraan, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s highly anticipated Malayalam film, is making waves outside Kerala too. The Mohanlal-starrer is all set to hit theatres on March 27, 2025, which will also see the release of another South star movie Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran. Now, Chiyaan Vikram has wished success to the Empuraan team and also commented about his ‘good friend’ Prithviraj Sukumaran turning director with the 2019 hit film Lucifer.
Chiyaan Vikram on Empuraan
Chiyaan Vikram-starrer Veera Dheera Sooran will clash with Mohanlal’s Empuraan in theatres this Thursday. In a recent interview, Vikram expressed his ‘shock’ over Prithviraj, a stellar actor, turning director with Lucifer.
“Remarking how difficult it is to turn director even while being an actor, Vikram said, "Dhanush did it and Prithvi doing it in Lucifer, I was pretty shocked to see that." Notably, both Vikram and Prithviraj have starred together in the Mani Ratnam film, Raavanan.
In a show of fellowship between the two south industries, Chiyaan Vkram further said, “I hope both Empuraan and Veera Dheera Sooran would be well received by the audiences.”
The Tamil star, who is a self-confessed Lalettan fan, said, "I hope it is the first Pan-India film and creates huge records for Malayalam cinema.”

Veera Dheera Sooran is headlined by Vikram, along with other notable names in the cast, including SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Dushara Vijayan. Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu is making his Tamil debut with the Vikram-starrer.
Suraj Venjaramoodu will also be seen in a key role in Empuraan. However, he was not a part of the first installment of the Lucifer franchise, which released in 2019, and was a blockbuster hit.
Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran, who were part of Lucifer, will reprise their roles in the second installment too. However, it will feature several new faces from across industries, including Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, Jerome Flynn, and Nikhat Khan.
There is high anticipation surrounding the release of Empuraan as fans hope that the second installment will provide answers to the several questions left unanswered in Lucifer.
